The Media

Very interesting points made about mainstream media viewership.

Creativity is like a particle

Science cannot explain it, inspiration popping in and out of existence. Philosophy has endeavoured to understand it, and those of us who are compelled by the desire to create are no more able to explain where this passion comes from, yet it defines us.

New painting!

I'm currently working on my globalization series where I'm examining the relationship between post-colonialism and cross-cultural relationships, specifically East Indian textiles and subcultural motifs. I'm breaking apart the stereotypes and generalizations regarding multinationality and looking at it from a global point of view.

As someone of mixed background, I don't feel entirely...comfortable in one culture or the other or in any subculture, I see myself as mix of all of the above...being and not being. It's in oil, I've learnt also that you should never put your heater on maximum overnight when you have a wet oil painting in the room, disaster ensues!

Hollywood in favour of SOPA

Here's a group on Facebook I'm currently supporting:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Boycott-Hollywood/114369355335278?sk=info

Hollywood has spoken out against social networking and supporting the take-down of websites like Megaupload, soon to be Facebook and Youtube:

Support Anti-SOPA

Today, I am supporting the SOPA Blackout to protect the freedom of the internet. If you want more information, check out: http://sopablackout.org/

If SOPA is allowed to be passed, artists (like myself), musicians, filmakers, actors, graphic designers, business owners, entrepreneurs of all sorts will be unable to reach the wide breadth of the online world to marker our craft, to be successful and make a future for ourselves.

Freedom of information, freedom of discourse is being limited, if the bill is allowed to be passed, then knowledge as we know it today and all the freedoms we have gained to learn about other cultures, other ways of seeing the world and uncover what government officials are really doing will be taken from us.

Support the anti-SOPA movement, post this script in your website: < script type = "text/javascript" src= "//js.sopablackout.org/sopablackout.js">< /script >

Absolutely disgusting.

This is unrelated directly to art (although art in my opinion can be related to pretty much anything) but I'm so pissed off right now I can't contain myself.

Gay Marriages from non-residents dissolved in Canada

Stephen Harper's only reason for doing this is because he wants same-sex marriage to be banned in Canada as well, it's so insidious.

It troubles me how Conservative this country is becoming. Canada granted always has been conservative but this is...horrible. Who has the right to tell someone whether or not they're married? Really? It's disgraceful, and I feel ashamed as a Canadian.
